The cost for both MHIP and MHIP-PCIP coverage is a monthly premium and varies according to the benefit plan selected and the age and gender of the enrollee. Be advised that Plan VI is the MHIP-PCIP Federal High Risk Pool Plan.
Premiums can be billed and paid monthly or quarterly. Premiums can also be automatically deducted from the enrollee's bank account.

MHIP State High Risk Pool Program (Plans I through V):
Premiums cover about 60% of the MHIP's cost to provide benefits. The remainder of that cost is funded by an assessment of all health insurers and HMOs that do business in Missouri.
By law the MHIP must set premiums within a range of from 125% to 200% of the average rates charged for comparable major medical coverage by the five insurers with the largest shares of the Missouri individual health insurance market.
MHIP-PCIP Federal High Risk Pool Program (Plan VI):
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) mandates that premiums be set as if for a standard population without a higher health risk. The premiums can vary by age (4:1), geographic area, and family composition.
